The One-Week Job Project – Now in Vancouver!

What: One Week Job Street Team – Meet the creator, Sean Aiken, of the One-Week Job Project
Where: Downtown Vancouver, B.C.  Starting in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery, 750 Hornby St. and moving around the core.
When: Thursday, July 29, 2010, 11am – 1pm.

Are you confused about your career?  Have you been left feeling unfulfilled by your current job?  Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work doing something you really love?

Feel like a movie star as we interview YOU about your passion, enter to win Sean Aiken’s book The One Week Job Project, and most importantly, find out how YOU can GET PAID TO FIND YOUR PASSION!

The One-Week Job Project is taking you to the streets – literally.  On Thursday, July 29, 2010, we’ll be blasting downtown Vancouver with our message: that it’s never too late to find your passion!

Meet the man who’s done it all: Sean Aiken, author of The One-Week Job Project and an everyday-adventurer who has worked as a Bungee Jump Instructor, Professional Photographer, Firefighter, Preschool Teacher – and everything in between. Also talk to a current One Week Job Program Participant Amanda Lowe about her mini  8-week experience.

“This is an amazing opportunity to explore jobs I had always thought of trying, but had never had the time or money to discover on my own.  I’m only in the first month of my personal One Week Job journey, but I’ve already learned so much about myself.”
– Amanda Lowe, Inaugural OWJ Program Participant

About Sean Aiken and the One-Week Job Project –

What: Between Feb 2007 and March 2008, Sean Aiken completed an epic journey around North America, working 52 jobs in 52 weeks.

Why: When Sean graduated from college, he didn’t know what he wanted to do for a career (or what he wanted to do with his life!).  But instead of taking the first job that came along, he found a unique way of figuring it out: The One Week Job Project.

How it worked: Anyone, anywhere, could offer Sean a job for one week, and contact him through the website.  He tried everything: Bungee Instructor, Dairy Farmer, Advertising Executive, Baker, Stock Trader, Firefighter, and more. Wherever he could find work, he’d hitch a ride there, find a couch to crash on, and immerse himself in whatever profession was at hand.

Thousands of people began following his journey, looking to him for inspiration in their own lives. The media covered the story extensively: The New York Times, Rachael Ray Show, Good Morning America, CNN, 20/20, CBC Newsworld, FOX News and countless others.

Sean realized he hadn’t started on his own journey. He’d started a movement.  Now at the end of his journey, it’s time to share the complete story and the lessons learned along the way.

Sean has since written a book, The One-Week Job Project, is working on a film about his experience, and has started the One Week Job Program.

About The One Week Job Program

The One-Week Job Program is designed to provide others the opportunity to participate in a similar experience to Sean’s original journey.

The first semester of the program is currently taking place, with winners from Canada and the United States.  The three “jobbers” of the inaugural semester will work 8 different One Week Job’s of their choosing, and will receive a $3000 grant towards their travel expenses.

Inaugural Participant Amanda Lowe is spending one of her jobs with Reframe Marketing, a strategic planning and business marketing company based in Vancouver.  This event is her first event-planning project, and she’s looking forward to sharing the program with you!
